This is really simple , if anyone of us could steal a Audi A6 or ..
some cool jeans , or glasses whatever and could be SURE it wasnt caught
90% of us would do it
So when new laws start to come up , tracing IPS , or when governments
decide to make something about this , at least in the western world piracy will decrease in huge amounts
You just need to know you might be caught and suffer consequences
that is the only thing needed to a drastic cut in piracy
Of course Mongolia is not the same thing as Luxembourg
but what i have said applies to , European CUSA,japan etc
Is Piracy Really Killing The Music Industry? No!.........?
Piracy rises in frace despite 3 strikes law!

Another explanation could be that music production is becoming so easy and that there is so much music available that is should become nearly free. The production costs are really low as compared to say 10-20 years ago. It's same as with RAM or hard drives... the production costs of those units is so cheap thats why ram and hard drive prices have fallen drastically.
(keep in mind, this is just an other possible explanation)

that french law looks stupid. i thought all the pirated stuff was on rapidshare anyway. if thats not included in the law then they have no chance of stopping piracy.New Guy wrote:Piracy rises in frace despite 3 strikes law!

what a dumb question. what are you implying? That labels themselves deliberately throw their music online for free? Some do, big players who get money from other channels then sales anyway, but for small labels and artists, piracy is killing them indeed. People always start ranting about "yeah but Radiohead put their albums online for free or whatever their fans want to pay". And while that works fine for a band that already has made a big name for itself, this is an entirely (and impossible) way for unknown artists.chrisjechorek wrote:if illegal downloading is SO bad WHY is it so available, faster then you can buy it. why why so much free stuff?? and why can anyone do it?
I'm really baffled how so many so-called music fans would grasp any straw to not have to say that they are simply stealing and they don't want to see their ways are wrong, plain and simple. Really confusing.

i think you hit the nail on the head with the description of "so-called". people care less about music than they do about going out, being seen and acting like idiots while music is playing in the background.PsyTox wrote: I'm really baffled how so many so-called music fans would grasp any straw to not have to say that they are simply stealing and they don't want to see their ways are wrong, plain and simple. so when they are back home, pirating music all day long never even crosses their mind as something they shouldn't do.
