No idea if its better?
But the convenience of this monster is amazing. I cannot live without the up and down firewire ease anymore and I have only had this thing a week!

Thanks about the trax. I can actually tell you more about an a/b comparison between the r16 and the other zeds soon.
My pal Shagghie just got a zed12fx for his live pa. I will do some comparison on material between the 2 and see what I hear.

no its not an interface although it does have usb but i dont use it at all. i send 6 outs from my rme fireface400 and also have a few pieces of gear that i plug into it... so at the end i have 9 channels total being usedagodi wrote:Is the zed14 an audio interface aswell as a mixer?Brankis wrote: i have a zed14, the one you mentioned is $3k!!?? is the quality that much better?
I recently replaced my Soundtracs Topaz 32x8 with a Mackie 1604
and I'm severely disappointed
the headroom is way lower on the mackie
and has a really nasty (bad sounding) clip
it doesnt overdrive like my old desk at all
channel 16's gain stage just blew out the other day
so now I'm on 15 channels...
going to save for a Toft and put this thing on craigslist...
I wont buy a mackie desk again
I do like mackie monitors / speakers however

The R16 has 2 bands of fully parametric EQ, in addition to hi and lo EQ. Zed 14 has only one mid band and no Q I think? That means you can do all of your EQ'ing on the 16 and don't have to resort to plugins. That's a huge plus for me at least, I don't want a mixer that I can't actually mix with.Brankis wrote:i have a zed14, the one you mentioned is $3k!!?? is the quality that much better?victorjohn wrote:zed r16 FTW.
This thing rules.
Its so nice it hurts.
I replaced like 3 pieces of gear with it. Ebay yer cat and get one! I did!
