Have you ever heard an industrial sized boiler fire up? Especially one in a large boiler room. I also like industrial sized dryers...the kind in hotels, they make outstanding sounds. I also like the sounds of large fireproof doors closing in school hallways.

By the way, there is no right answer to the question posed; if you answer "yes, I am claiming it as my own", that is perfectly acceptable. I am simply trying to understand your question better.

1. Do you appreciate other genres of music besides minimal beats?

2. Do you appreciate aspects of music other than minimal?

I listen to:

-Jazz (I enjoy mostly freejazz/improvised jazz)
-Hip-Hop (not the MTV kind though)
-Metal (mostly real hard metal like Black Metal, Death Metal, Grindcore)
-Industrial (Front 242 as you could guess from my name, Front Line Assembly, Haujobb etc.)
-Ambient/New Age (the classics like Brian Eno, etc.)
-A tiny bit of Classical music

I Dislike:
-Pop Music
-Opera

oh, there's quite a lot.

from rare grooves to death metal,
from jazz to idm,
from alternative to classical music,
from lounge music to punkrock,
from postrock to techno.

i just listen to whatever i like and what fits the moment and kicks my own bottom. i have no limitation. there's only good music or bad music.
in one moment i can listen to rabih abou-khalil, in the next to cannibal corpse followed by mood ii swing, motorpsycho and the assad brothers. no problem at all :)
