The reason your external drive will be faster than the internal is because most laptop internals are 5400rpm... I think this is to save battery life... you can get a faster external running at 7200rpm.

Regardless, if you want good drive performance make sure you defrag often.

Not sure exactly what effect your looking for. but this is true about using the allen and heath sends. Check out the boss digital delay. http://www.bossus.com/index.asp?pg=1&tmp=14 Thats a pretty cheap solution but will the delay sync in to the track bpm? I don't think so, you wouldn't be using...
