@ soapz :No matter how subtle you use a normal echo if u were to drop the bass with the effect still on the effect with echo the bass also which doesnt happen.

you dont need special type of fx for this nor hardware. It's matter of routing and setting the fx chain, and doesent matter which sofware you use it's the same for all...

so for example if you use ableton on return channel first set eq three(let say)and cut all bellow 350Hz(or more, your choice),then set delay, echo, reverb or whatever you want.then when you send signal(on return) from some channel that is playing,it doesnt matter if you drop the bass or not, because everything on return will first have to go thru eq and that signal will then go thru other efx,and your main signal will go togheter with effect as you said.
I think even Richie learn this thru production process rather then live performance because this is more way of thinking, and in production your all about routing, group channels, send and returns and once you get comfortable with that there is really nothing you can't do.
i hope that this was of some assistance to you...
peace :D

Thats a pretty cheap solution but will the delay sync in to the track bpm?
I don't think so, you wouldn't be using this effect like you think you should be. Its more to create some sort of colorful canvas of sound to mix during your sets. So not the delay as you would traditionally have thought of.

Richie Effects

Post by sh!tfiltr »

Hi guys,

What Richie is using is the Lexicon PSP42 plugin (http://www.pspaudioware.com/indexen.htm ... psp42.html;) ... It's quite expensive but the posibilities are great and it sounds just fantastic.

You can download a free demo version at the site and try it out... You should add an EQ Tree and the lexicon to your track... Then filter the bass and in the PSP put endless repeat of a delay of around 1/12 or 1/16 or 1/24, put the feedback to max and then play with the mix and manvco controls...That will give you the exact effect you're looking for....

Hope this helps...If not, let me know ;-)

Grtz...

Hi guys,

i too am after a really organic sounding delay. i'm not interested in a lecture on how you do it or how wet/dry to apply the efx etc, i just want names of plugins or hardware seperates that can create really nice natural echo/delays to music. I'm thinking of getting the soundbite xl and then either using this in conjuntion (via send/returns) with a good plugin or another seperate efx unit that specialises in echo's/delays etc.

I mainly want this to very subtly add extra texture to my music and also to add extra intensity and energy when needed in the transitions.

One of the the best delays/tape echos ive heard so far is one that FK uses, does anyone know what this is?

This works pretty well for intensity. Just turn this thing up to 11 and your golden.

EFX 1000 is a pretty good unit... F*cking easy to use and can sound pretty good.
