This is getting moody. I've been trying to get krk's for a week now. All sold out & no distributor in Uk so long wait. Heard 828's the other day and admit they had a very tight low end/. I've read the krk's were comparable on here. splott boy. when i bought the mackies, i originally intended to...

i'm going to have to go against the grain here and say that i compared KRK's against Mackie HR824s when i was buying my monitors, and the KRKs sounded boxey and were much less detailed than the mackies. i bought the mackies, and love them. a few people say the mackies have too much bass, i think tha...

These days I'm finding myself approach rhythm and melody at the same time. They are often intertwined in techno - for the very good reason that it sounds f*cking tough that way. well said, techno is primordial music, melody and rhythm are interchangeable. when i'm constructng a tune i never think i...

i have a behringer BCR2000, and while it's cheap and versatile, i find it very unresponsive with ableton ( but i'm mainly an analogue producer, so digital always seems to have a lag to me ). i also have have a doepfer controller which i use with virtual synths ( Nord 3 / virus B ) and it's so much m...

normally from one to three weeks, but i record live, so i may get 3 entirely different useable versions in that time. and i spend alot of time on production quality / mastering so that nothing needs to be done at the cut. but the best stuff ive ever written, and the stuff which stands the test of ti...

i'd agree with texture, digital synthesis is very much on a par, it all really depends how you work, ive always had a 'knob per job' approach, so if i had a totally digital set-up i would need so many controller interfaces, that it would defeat the object of switching from analogue. the processing i...

i use about 90 % analogue gear.
i use a pc for sequencing and minimal editing, but do everything else live.
theres great music being made totally in the digital domain, but ive tried both and i'd rather use analogue everytime.
for me it's a more organic way of working.

i dont know if this helps guys, but i've attended dozens of record cuts, and although it varies depending on the engineer, as an average i'd say bass is mono-ed below about 130-150 HZ, and filtered out below about 25 HZ
