i personally do favor the Sonalksis SV-315 Compressor, Waves RComp, Voxengo Marquis Compressor and the free Fish Fillets (Blockfish) stuff. oh, the kjaerhus free classic tools are also top notch, there is a compressor among those tools.

there are tons of every effect u could want out there today, just spend a week doin a demo raid and ull probly find something suitable. :)

I have used T-racks and Waves (amongothers) and all of them have been satisfying, but now i just have logic standard compressors and it just not good enough...

the *best* compressor doesn't exist.

it's all a matter of personal preference and what material you want to compress.

been trying sonalksis, waves etc formerly, finally got the uad-1 and it actually contains the least generic sounding compressors out there. they've got plenty of character and i wouldn't swap them for anything else.

then again, you've gotta dig this kind of beefy compression.
