Experience on Project I/O from M-Audio

Post by Lostra »

Hello!

I want your opinion for M-Audio's Project I/O. Have someone experience
with this Gear? Positive-Negative things and Price/Quality relation
My Buddy wants to replace his analog console and RME Hammerfall DSP
with the Project I/O. What you think?

thanks

I think the January edition of Sound on Sound magazine has a full review of this thing. They were quite positive about it.

I have read the reviews but you can't be sure (for commercial reasons and all this "conspiracy theory" etc) It is better to hear users too

if i understand this piece, it does not work 'stand alone', ie. you have to have your computer on for it to pass sound, might not be a prob for some but be sure it has zero latency monitoring. it's just kinda stupid that if you want to casually listen to records, you have to bus the signal through your firewire card and computer.

i'm leaning towards the tascam fw-1884

although i do like the 2 headphone outs on the I/O, and the lcd's.

YEs the tascam is in the same category, but slightly more expensive.
The thing is that the M-Audio has been tested with Ableton LIve and has even templates to work on them (Controlling)

Hmm, difficult choice, cause i trust in the sound quality of RME. I don't think that M-Audio soundcards have this level of quality

Hmmm,

More opinions?

tascam fw1884 for $998

another option is this..

behringer ddx3216 on ebay (about $700 w/ ADAT) and an RME DIGI 9636 ADAT card, ebay ($250) i know people think that behringer is sh!t (a lot is) but this motorized mixer has gotten stellar reviews worldwide. rare pieces though.
