Last year the famous MINUS label celebrated its tenth anniversary. A world tour, named Contakt, was the result of ten years of MINUS. Next to nine other cities all over the world, Amsterdam was part of the tour. In collaboration with Evotions, Richie Hawtin succeeded in having the Contakt show sold out more than two weeks before the start of the event. Contakt ended up being one of the most discussed nights of the entire ADE. This year, MINUS will return to the Amsterdam Dance Event with a line-up and LED-show which will at least be as spectacular as it was during the previous edition. On Friday the 23rd of October, Richie Hawtin, Magda, JPLS, Barem, Ambivalent, Fabrizio Maurizi and Hobo are coming to The Powerzone in Amsterdam.
MINUS would not be MINUS without Richie Hawtin. This visionary and multi talent has been on the highest level of musical entertainment for years and knows how to surprise his audience every single time. Whether we’re talking about the albums he produced when called Plastikman, or about the legendary Decks & FX mix CDs; Richie Hawtin knows how to stay original and how to surprise people in an overwhelming way. In 2008, during the ADE, Richie was leading his entire orchestra, whereas this year he’ll show up with an unadulterated solo set.
Next to Richie Hawtin, Magda’s name also flaunts on the display. This uncrowned minimal queen has been one of the aces of the wanted MINUS sound for years. Being part of the Run.Stop.Restore crew, (in collaboration with Troy Pierce and Marc Houle) Magda has made a craze years ago. Her solo releases are famous all over the world while her DJ sets remain unsurpassed.
But there’s even more: JPLS, Ambivalent, Barem, Fabrizio Maurizi and Hobo (part of Tractile) will all be there to complete this MINUS night and make it an unforgettable one. Talented, energetic, and at all times innovative would be the keywords to describe this new load of M-nus artists.
In addition to a fantastic audio programme there will be paid a worthy amount of attention to the visual part of the night. Ali M Demirel once again accounts for the visuals. For the people who have visited one of the Contakt nights, there is no need to introduce this man. In case there are people who haven’t; his work of art is presented minimally, inspiringly and overwhelmingly on tens of square meters of video LED displays.
To close, some domestic announcements: this event was sold out way before the start of the evening, so make sure that you get your tickets as soon as possible. For the real diehards it’s also possible to buy a combination ticket.
