Playing sunday and Ableton has started glitching & stutt

Post by kristofason »

Hello i'm playing my first ableton set sunday night, and all of a sudden ableton has started overloading on cpu whenever i move tracks about on each channel,i'm worried coz this is something i need to do as im not intending on planning the set and its for 2 hours...its gonna sound horrible on the big system if i start moving stuff around...
also whenever i tweak the filter for each channel,it sounds sh!t!!
ive had a read through the manual but nothin seems to sort it out,am i overlooking something??

Cheers,any advice would be diamond

Give me some more info.

-What version of ableton are you on?
-What kind of system (specs) do you have?
-How many vst's are you using?
-How many audio tracks are you using?
-How many clips are you using?

but there's no reason why you'd need to move tracks around on the fly. can't you arrange things so they're all in place to start with?

its live 7

my spec is a dual core 1.5gig advent laptop 2 gig ram XP
all set to classic look and no screensaver

Ive got deck1 and deck2,each with an E8,then theres a send channel with a filter delay on it...

Like i say,i didnt really want to plan much so i may need to move stuff around on the fly from deck 1 to deck 2

I did a system restore which sorted then problem but within a few days it was back to its normal slow self...

yes latency is a good point to check. try to set a higher value for latency in your soundcard preferences and see if it changes something...

And it is VERY important to have good and strong drivers for the soundcard, check for updates, if possible.
