No stranger to Meerestief, Anthony Collins has already contributed a remix to the Wacker & Zittrich "Rough Collies" 12" and lent his amazing sunrise hymn "Paraffine" to the recent "Tiefer" e.p. so it seemed almost inevitable that the next step would be his very own single for the label. "Depalma" picks up where "Paraffine" concluded and makes further progress in that direction: it has a gradual, incremental rise in tension underscored by the kick drum that must eventually burst open and then, storm over, fold back in on itself. The track has a warmer, more house-like touch than perhaps we've previously heard, but this is still Collins through & through.

To compliment & contrast the original, Heidelberg's Stefan Eichinger seemed like the perfect partner – as Lopazz he has already shown his shape-shifting abilites on labels as diverse as Output, Get Physical and Compost Black and seems confident whether rousing the crowd with deep house or shaking them up with dirty electroclash. His own remix of "Depalma" showcases many aspects of his diverse work – there's a masterful build-up in the wildpitch style that's wrapped tightly with slap-bass and strings which all escalate into an immense wall of sound. Crowning this, he adds a bright guitar which gives his version a more al fresco terrace atmosphere than the original.
