[tuningspork-bluesexperiments03] Signor Andreoni

Post by sierra_sam »

Like many experiments, Tuning Spork Blues Experiments began in a garden shed. However a "blues" garden shed is more dilapidated and hardcore than those of other genres, trust us on that one. For this, the third Tuning Spork Blues Experiment, Signor Andreoni comes with 4 psychedelic house jams which mix a deep musical knowledge and background with an appetite for club freakouts.

A native of Sardinia, Italy, Signor Andreoni aka Alberto Andreoni has traveled far from his traditional background in jazz music to jump into the world of techno. Since the age of 13 he has played guitar in all styles, from rock to classical. He has an MA from Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he studied not only jazz but classical composition and world music, however when you hear these tracks, you will also think that Signor Andreoni has been studying the darker art of house music.

Currently Signor Andreoni resides in Berlin where he enjoys jamming and collaborating with friends exploring the interaction of traditional and modern music techniques. This is his third Tuning Spork Blues Experiment. Inspired by legends like Miles Davis and modern day techno producers like Dandy Jack, Andreoni is forging wacked out new house sounds, in the true spirit of jazz. This EP is no exception, and it shows why the likes of Ricardo Villalobos believe that Signor Andreoni is an amazing musician.

A1: Exile: To begin the experiment, Andreoni jams you deep into space, with some seriously fucked up effects that will have you hiding under your bedclothes. Deep polyrhythmic xylophone sounds are sprinkled all over this track, and stars explode amidst thumping bass. Does anyone else make music like this?

A2:Sleepover: Here Signor Andreoni invites some friends around to do each others hair and talk about boys. Or perhaps not, instead this is perhaps the most techno cut on this release, but the deep haze of dub still remains, over a banging percussive track.

B1:Members Only: Like the 80s clothing maker of the same name, this one is a little exclusive. The melodies are perfect as you expect from Signor Andreoni, and here the acid line is more prominent in the mix, over deep warbling bass notes, watch this one destroy your club.

B2:Borderline: In this track, nothing is as it seems. Melodies fall down cliffs into weird drones, and everything seems a little skewed. In the early hours, this may make brains feel a little unfamiliar, or awake the enemy within. Some seriously paranoid feelings abound on this as the track travels off in many directions that are difficult to predict, often all at the same time.

This completes a 4 track EP from a unique talent in the world of deep electronic house music, with 4 distinctive colourful tracks that take the genre far away from the middlebrow. Make sure you check out our third Tuning Spork Blues Experiment, even if you spent most of science class using bunsen burners as water pistols.
