how to mono bass

is there a plugin i can use to change the bass of a track to mono? i know that i can use a filter and divide the track into upper frequencies/lower frequencies, and mono the lower ones and put the 2 parts back together, but i was wondering if there is a simpler way.

depnding which software are you using. you could just reneder the bassline and convert it to mono.

I'd use the technique you described... maybe keeping only one channel of the lower frequencies instead of merging the two in mono... depends...

There IS a plug for doing it in real time... but I don't remember the name...

Why do you ask? you could just dump the bass out l and r and only import the L onto a mono track...all is good from there...but if the this is a vinyl concern check this thread...

If you're using LIVE, you can use the Utility plugin.

If you have the Waves budle, you can use the surround pan plug, and just center everything...

just a few more suggestions.
