Pioneer DJM 800 vs. A+H Xone 92
i dont know about the 800, but ive had a 600 for the last couple of years and i can safely say it is sh!t ! even though it hasnt had much wear and tear.
at least half of the pots on it are scratchy, and you cant replace them yourself. (ok the VCA faders are good) and its emitted a strange hum from the power supply since it was 3 months old, and i sometimes get a slight buzzy shock off it every now and then.
infact every bit of pioneer gear ive got is sh!t.
ive had three different CD players, my CDJ500 has had every single button on it replaced over the last three years, and it still acts up, my CDJ500S died after one year and it was going to cost more than a new one to fix.
so i wont be buying anymore Pioneer gear no matter what the reviews say.
i did a gig at the Treibstoff club in Cologne a few months ago, and i specifically asked for a 600 because i use the effects in my live set, they duly obliged after first trying to persuade me to use an A & H, during the sound check i thought my sound was really bad, and the engineer reckoned the A & H would be loads better, so i swapped over and i couldnt believe the difference, my sound came to life. i decided there and then to ditch my own 600 and buy an A&H.
however its a bit disconcerting that they dont make the A&H's in england anymore, that could make a big difference.

absolute bollox is ittone-def wrote:I've used the xone:92, xone:62 and DJM800. the sound quality of the xone:62 is actully better than the xone:92. So if thats whats important to you buy the xone:62. DJM800 is much more fun with all the effects and sound quality isn't far off. Also i think if you use A + H all the time it makes it harder if you have to play on a different mixer because the headphone que is so different. you can't hear EQ settings in the headphones with the A + H.
try and understand this way of thinking:
if you are a sound freak and want the best hi-fi, always buy seperates and combine to make the best system. that way every piece of kit is specialist and the best of its range. if you buy a all in one built in hi-fi system, the quality will never be as good.
same goes for mixers. buy a mixer with all the bells and whistles on with fx etc and yeh - you may have like 20+ fx, but they all sound shite so whats the point. i would rather buy i few single fx units which do the best at what they do
i thought the same thing at first - but after reading the 92 manual that doubt was put at ease - you would not believe how anal they are about sound etcsteevio wrote: however its a bit disconcerting that they dont make the A&H's in england anymore, that could make a big difference.
they give you tips about certain settings, how to take best care of mixer and are always harp on about levels and frequencies etc - it's actually quite amusing.
i for one know the sound tech guy who does room1 at fabric etc would have no other mixer in the booth

I've got a 62 and i can hear the EQ through the cue... just can't hear the filters (which is annoying).tone-def wrote:I've used the xone:92, xone:62 and DJM800. the sound quality of the xone:62 is actully better than the xone:92. mmm.... every time i've used an xone mixer and i've got the bass on the incoming track turned down i still hear a big pumping kick and lots of bass in the headphones.digitalbunny wrote:I've got a 62 and i can hear the EQ through the cue... just can't hear the filters (which is annoying).tone-def wrote:I've used the xone:92, xone:62 and DJM800. the sound quality of the xone:62 is actully better than the xone:92.
