Question about kicks/drums

Right... but I think you can't just deminish the idea of compressing kicks like this. There are few times when it can help like over Compressing an 808 to make the tail never drop out.

I think it just depends on what your going for, but your right at the bottom line. Don't bother with compressing the kick unless you are going for a specific effect.

In a way, yes. But, battery has a lot more functionality than redrum.
Sample processing, fx, output routing, layering,...
Also you don't have a built-in sequencer in battery.

I don't know I use cubase but from what I do know Battery is preety much the industry standard for doing drums.

I like battery you can get the demo for free from the native instruments website, so there's no excuse for not checking it out...
