Quality effects for DJing

Post by soapz »

Im looking for any really organic sounding echo's or delay effects available. Either ones that can be used as plug ins in Ableton or whatever or even external effects units. Not bothered which way just what it sounds like. Got a minute clip of recent Hawtin set where he uses like a echo effect but somehow it seems alot more natural and rolls with the track, dont know if this is just clever use of a popular effects unit or sumthing new. Any help is much appreciated!

try to pay attention how much wetness you apply. that's pretty much about it.

No its not coz sometimes Ive heard after the bass is dropped, the effect is still dying off gradually. You cant do that unless its either a seperate effects unit running through another channel or just a new pre-set on something I havent yet seen. No matter how subtle you use a normal echo if u were to drop the bass with the effect still on the effect with echo the bass also which doesnt happen.

Is the effect generated by the mixer or an external (laptop) unit?

Not sure exactly what effect your looking for. but this is true about using the allen and heath sends. Check out the boss digital delay.

You can achieve a similar effect with this vst. Part of the effect is changing the delay time so it wrenches the sound. Speeding it up or crunching it down.

Thats a pretty cheap solution but will the delay sync in to the track bpm?
