Post by naw »

hot off the press's to your ears, get them while they are hot...
4 new releases are now availalbe for your downloading pleasure on the
phoniq netlabel. go to www.phoniq.net to get these releases..

1.
Sans Soleil - Sunlines
Michael Trommer is a Toronto based producer and visual artist who has
recorded for such top electronic music labels as Transmat, Interchill,
Nice'N'Smooth, Dragonfly, Ultra-Vista, Instinct, Impact and Dakini, both
under his own name as well as aliases such as 'sans-soleil, 'Hydraulic, and
'Manitou2'. sans soleil was featured at the 2003 Movement Festival
(a.k.a.DEMF) in support of Michael's full-length album on Detroit's
legendary Transmat label. The tracks featured on phoniq were all recorded during live shows in late 2003 and early 2004

2.
Max Breslow - Warm Summer Days, Cold Winter Nights
Max's first release, "Warm Summer Days, Cold Winter Nights" was created
throughout 2004, with most of the composition done in either the serenity
of the mountains of upstate New York, or the familiar landscape of his
parents country home near Kingston, Ontario. Max has been producing
electronic music for about eight years, and comes from a strong musical
background. Max also holds a degree in theatre production from Ryerson
University in Toronto. Max's style has developed into a lush soundscape
often comprised of layers of pads and synths, coupled with deep and
rythmic percussion; although when Max starts a track, anything can happen.
Warm Summer Days, Cold Winter Nights was mastered by Twerk.

3.
Andrew Duke - Second Opinion
Andrew Duke has been composing, producing, remixing, and performing music
since 1987, plus scoring and sound design for film, television, video,
web, theatre, and radio. His music is consistently referred to by the
media and listeners alike as continuously presenting a unique and distinct
sound; quotes: 'Andrew Duke creates music that sounds like it has a reason
for living' (The Wire, UK); 'He often seems to be inventing new genres'
(Cyclic Defrost, Australia); 'a unique producer with a strong perception
and approach of his own to electronic music' (Koert Notario, Courthouse
Int'l Audio, The Netherlands); 'Andrew Duke renews my faith in the world
of slow-mo techno' (Igloomag/Microview, USA).

4.
Jardo` - The Matter Among Us
In The Matter Among Us EP, the influence of orchestral music
(particularily during the early Romanticvand late Medieval Periods) begins
to arise in Jardo`s sound as it continues to evolve. Jardo` focuses on
developing a sound that encourages, if not forces, listeners
to open their ears beyond the beat of the drums and into the deeper
frequencies that evolve from the contrast of drums with the sum of the
co-ordination of rhythms and melodies. This is the second release for
Jardo' with phoniq.

Thanks and enjoy...

Hmm, hate to say hat but I haven't found the way to get these tracks

Oh, and by the way, I really love "Coffee grounds, piano wires and broken hearts" on vagueterrain.
 it's definitly among the more emotional glitches i've heard so far in 2006!

Hi, Idealstandard.
Yes, Neil's "Coffee..." piece is great. Enjoying it again as I type this (thanks for the reminder :)).
Neil shut down the netlabel part of Phoniq.net on 2 April 2006 to concentrate on vagueterrain, thus none of the Phoniq netreleases are available online now. I'm not sure what the others are doing with their releases, but I'm reworking mine (Second Opinion) for re-release with Neil's blessing.
Take care.
Andrew

Neil pulled the plug on the Phoniq project when he moved back to Toronto last year, for various reasons. He has kept the domain name only for his personal website. The other members of the collective are working on their other projects:

Cyan - hosts Modular Systems FM and Women On Wax

Some of the artists that co-orperated on Neil's Phoniq project are re-releasing their material.

I was an artist that took part of the Phoniq netlabel (Neon Tetra), I did an EP for Neil, but I ended up taking the tracks on the EP and put them on an album I was working on, which is now available on www.noisefactoryrecords.com. If you are interested, don't need to sound like I'm promoting myself.

I also know Jardo` as well, I'm helping him find a home for his past releases, if he could only find his MP3's hehe.

Hypnotech 3's release on Phoniq is now available on Futuresonic.

Also good to hear that you are re-releasing Second Opinion Andrew. ;)

Also when I got an email from Neil about Phoniq closing down, he said that some people can have the option of moving their EP's to Pertin_nce. Although I am really sure I can't remember if that was being said. So maybe we might see some of the re-releases on Pertin_nce?
