For what it's worth, I own both and there is no sound on the MachineDrum that sounds like the 909 open hi hat. Nothing even comes close, actually. The kick is also fatter and tighter on the original 909.

Whether or not it's worth the $1000 USD to keep the 909 for two sounds is really up to you, though. For me it's worth it and I'd never sell mine.

whatever you do keep the 909 !!!!!!!!!!!
i'd never sell mine, man that machine invented dance music.
that kick drum has been cloned ad infinitum, but not one has ever come close. sample it and you'll kill it.
the snare is gorgeous,

machine drum is more flexible, but the 909 is alive.

keep analogue alive !!!!

I thought it was a drum synth too... in other words, it doesn't sound like that because you haven't writen the patches/sounds for that yet... am I wrong?
