Kind of an oversimplification, no?
Grant Richter wrote a pretty good article on the subject, used to confuse the hell out of my too when I'd hear about people talking about "East-Coast style envelopes" etc.

Hah, no I definitely agree with your sentiment too
To 99% of people its definitely all bleeps and bloops

Anyways has anyone been reading about the Analoguehaven drama?
If the allegations are true its kind of disheartening that someone in the modular community is being so monopolistic.

basically some allegations were made by a previous employee about some things, all discussed in this thread
http://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/viewto ... c&start=60

The thing that really shocked me though was how tyrannical he made Analoguehaven's exclusivitiy with some manufacturers seem, because there is definitely a big enough demand for eurorack...
and I myself have had some experiences with Shawn's promised shipping times, "oh yeah its gonna go out tomorrow" only to finally have it shipped a week later, but nothing to turn me off to the degree I wouldn't shop there again.
