Romania's enigmatic TC Studio, who is Matei Tulbure and Traian Chereches, have prepared a wonderfully intricate release for Archipel entitled "Autoportrait EP". They concoct a potent hypnotic brew which is at the same time as deep as the night sky is vast.
"Aglomeratie" is, on the surface, fairly gentle and yet it wields a glorious undercurrent of shimmering tension and release embodied by distant voices much like those heard on the edge of the mind as sleep is setting in. "Autoportret" is as warm and inviting as it is dark. It's nature is that of the most compelling vortex in which to let go, glide into and rest at the core surrounded by gently twirling arcs of luminescent smoke. "Loris" is a deceptively soft, yet very heavy, pressure cooked diamond where its rawness and polished aspects are in complete balance with each other, a glass smooth surface with perfect refractive cracks throughout scattering subtle pulses of brilliant hues. "Funeral For A Bird" is a sweetly melancholic and raw twenty minute whose arpeggiated coils of feathered light dance amongst shattered, enticing rhythms while Pheek made a remix that alters the alignment of the original's rhythmic spine and wraps its arpeggios even tighter into a glowing multidimensional helix. "Range" is a river of thick white smoke flowing through channels of polished granite where extradimensional atmospheric gardens flicker in and out of perception.
