Jatoma
Jatoma made their grand entrance into the world of electronic dance music via Kompakt’s annual Total series, debuting their track “Helix” in the series' eleventh installation. With huge, pounding drums and playfully sublime chimes, the trio quickly gained attention as the label’s brightest new act. However, little was known of them as they chose to shroud themselves in anonymity as many of their techno peers have once again chosen to do in recent years, recalling the mysteriousness that surrounded techno producers in the early 90s. All the rest of the world came to know was the stupefying fact that the combined age of all three members was 68, with two of them still in their teens. It is no surprise that their youth has led their self-titled debut album to be filled with influences that stem from outside the traditional EDM scene along with a childlike splendor, all topped off with that recognizable warmth and lushness that come to define the Kompakt brand the last decade.
