I've been wanting to do this for a while using one of these: http://www.doepfer.de/pe.htm

For parts - have you looked at rs electronics or farnell. They are worldwide and have a ludicrous stock range.

Will probably need to order a minimum of 10, certainly not 5000

note wrote:Hi guys,

I have been into building my own MIDI-controller for quite some time now and i really would like to begin now. I would like to make it look like the old Doepfer MIDI-controllers (e.g. Doepfer Pocket Control or maybe Pocket Dial).

Do you guys know where i can find some cheap parts for this? and maybe a tutorial on the basic things i need to know before i begin to build it..

Thanks!
what about arduino?! google "arduino MIDI"

tasos
This. Arduino fucking rules for this sh!t. There's loads of info out there for arduino based monomes also. I'm building a voltage controlled step sequencer based on Arduino.

How easy would it be to make a simple midi controller with 8 rotary faders, having no previous skills in electronics or soldering???
