buying single tracks is how children consume music.
if your a dj your meant to like music, and have a knowledge of more than the various "BOMBS!!!LOLZ!!!1" that come out every week.
honestly, it depresses me that people think they're a dj worth going to see but their relationship to and knowledge of music is so unnatural.
its like buying a smiths best of or something.
**just want to say also, this has nothing to do with the digital/vinyl thing, its just about how music is consumed.**

So buying the 2 tracks I find good on a release with 3 tracks is bad in your book and makes me a bad DJ?Atheory wrote:buying single tracks is how children consume music.

No troubles at all, and he can think I am a bad DJ no matter what, but I'm interested in knowing if this is what makes a DJ bad or good... a bit strange IMOThemis wrote:uhhh now you are in trouble Atheory
And I of course know that this wouldn't be the only thing that would make a bad DJ in his book, I just find the opinion very strange. I understand that people who go to Beatport and only buy the top 10 tracks in every genre are not real lovers of music, as they are not digging for music, but is a vinyl DJ who just buys top 10 on Decks and Juno a music lover, or just a follower as the digital kid?
edit: then I turned it over to a vinyl/digital thing again, wasn't my intention.
I just think that because you are digging for tracks and not releases, doesn't make you a less music lover IMO.

I think Techno in general isn't about WAR at all )
I am not getting this insult thing about artists and labels
@iankerr7: I think Patrick's post wasn't meant to be aggressive or something..

@atheory: so you say my musical knowledge is unnatural just I realized that I bought a lot of mediocre stuff and I am trying to stop that?
