get one nice analog synth (to learn it inside an out)
Dave Smith Prophet 08
get a nice drum machine
Jomox or Machine Drum or MPC
the MPC can sequence or you could Seq from your computer
you'll need a mixer for the audio path
perhaps one with firewire to plug into your computer
or you could record to reel to reel or DAT
you could record into your computer
and then back out of you computer thru your mixer to tape or DAT too
there are lots of ways to bake a cake
what is your budget ?

@Android- im dont really have any substantial cash right now (maybe a couple k) but im not really buying yet. so nothing is final.
i am of course really into the possibility of a x0xb0x (tb 303 recreation) and mb-808 (tr 808 recreation), but those are kits, and im not quite a techy
know anything about learning about electronics (of course for the above instruments, but also for custom midi gear)?
