Stealing loops from ols house records

Post by blizt »

I was hearing that new martinez track "symphony of bliss", wich i have to say is a complete ass shaker and suddendly an old track came to mind. Just hear the beginning of both tracks.

Martinez track: http://www.chemical-records.co.uk/sc/se ... ck=LLFO009

Sampled track: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_deiDKV2g7k

Maybe im wrong but to me it's the same loop.

Do you think it's fair doing this sort of things? After discovering this, I wouldn't be surprised if he has applied the same technique in his last releases, cause they all got the same sound.

To me there is a difference in sampling some sounds, some vocals and redoing your thing, and stealing a groove.

to me, only the hats sound "the same", but come on, theres no special pattern used, so they probably used the same samples, sampled machine or machine.

theres 1000 other tracks with that exact same 'loop', not because theyre all sampled but because its one of the most basic rhythmic structures & hat/snare sounds..

agreed, those loops are completely different loops, but they are identical mathematically. you cant get any simpler loop.

Nothing new, we used to sample house loops to make techno with them... listen to killa byte...

its also common for other house producers to jack each others loops.

I love that EBTG record - haven't thought of it in a really long time. Will have to dig it out of the dust and give it another whirl at home.

I think DJ Pierre put it straight when he said that music is like shareware, once you choose to put it out there you have to accept and appreciate that people are going to take what you have done and add their twist to it.

Theres this one kick pattern I hear every time I go to a club, it goes boom boom boom boom...I wonder who that got jacked off.
