Hi! try Vstunnel, can´t send midi but u can send audio tracks into a friend proyect, is very fun to create music whit people of all the world.. is easy to use and is compatible whit multiple sequencer.... maybe is useful for you.

I remember reading about a performance Monolake and Deadbeat did a few years ago. Monolake was in Berlin and Deadbeat was in Canada, they were sending midi via the net. I think it was using Max/MSP.
