looking for effects like :S1 Stereo Imager

Post by hydrogen »

Does anybody use any effects that are like the S1 Stereo Imager? I'm looking for something like it at a less expensive price. :)

Bad news first: there is nothing free in the same vein as VST in terms of visually controlling the symmetry and rotation of the stereo field.

Good news: if you're using Fruity Loops or Buzz you can use Rymix Stereobox Pro which does exactly the same.

Commercial alternatives: PSP Stereocontroller

Interesting freebie: Budde's HRTF plugin

Always think twice.

is this used for creating semi stereophonic images out of a monophonic source?

Or is it used to beef up your stereo image? Curiousity is killing me

if you are referring to the S1 its used to beef up or modify your stereo image. Its great for widening and modifying your stereo sources. Its got a great interface which makes it pretty easy to use. One of the more essential plugins from the waves package IMO.

well... there isn't much more here other than the phase scope that ableton's utility device doesn't already do.
