Lush pads

Post by The_Glass_Olive »

Hey, I've been puzzling over a certain sound for a while now without luck and wonder if you guys could help me out:

It's a lush floating pad type noise used on Move D's Quit Quittin' EP. I think the sound I want may be a very delicately programmed rhodes/piano of some kind but I could be wrong - on both the title track and especially 'Jus House' it forms the main riff.

I've been trying for a while but no luck... in fact the whole EP is very unique sounding... any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Well thanks, but I know how to make a typical house chord... I specifically am wondering what instrument/type of sound is the base for these pads, that's where I'm stuck. Is it organ/rhodes/strings, I really can't tell. Once I've got the initial sound I can do the rest!

Thanks.

btw I think the sound sound is in quite a few other deep house tracks doing the rounds at the minute: The Passion by Phonique + Kiloo for example... if that helps you know what I'm talking 'bout....

Using a combination of sine waves should get you very close to that sound. I make all my own pads from sine waves.

Why waste your time with all these gimmicks?
Lush pads just happen to be the default preset!

Several months ago, Someone had to explain to me what pads are, but now, I have another question: Why are they called "pads?"
This is a serious question. :?
