Phaser plugin's normally don't sound good compared to analogue, so if you like real gear, check out this one: http://www.moogmusic.com/moogerfooger/? ... oduct_id=7 .

The only good phaser plugin I know of is the Sound Toys Phasemistress. Try the demo: http://www.soundtoys.com/products/PhaseMistress/
I use this plugin a lot for more subtle effects.
Thanks Jack.

I posted the same thread on the Gearslutz forum and someone replied with the following;

"there is a ton of layered type stabs all with really space echo style delays and the main sound has a weird phaser effect on it. I think the combination of so many different sounds and layers and fx is what's making it sound so big. I def think choosing the right mad phaser effect is the key."

My DAW is Sonar on a Windows PC so I'm not sure PhaseMistress is compatible with my platform. It's way too expensive anyway! ($349!).

I've got a couple of Phaser plug-ins though (Korg MDE-X, TAL-Phaser, Kjaerhus Classic-Phaser) so I'll play around with them to see if I can get a similar sound.

The flanging effect sounds like Waves Metaflanger.
