fun musical toys

Post by be~~ »

i was looking to buy some fun electronic musical toys. I've got a FM3 BUDDHA MACHINE and will be getting a Stylophone in a week, but was wondering what other fun little musical toys are there available, and what web sites sell them.

many thanks for your help :)

do some research... buy a speak & maths and circuit bend it!

It has some of the best glitch sounds (in most opinions) of the 'speak &' series and has awesome looping features when bent too!

Can all be done for under £30 and soldering can even be done by a gimp like me so you will be fine!!

Seriously, best thing you will ever do! :)

how to guides are all over the net or you can be lazy and buy a pre-bent (expensive) one of ebay too!

i just bought this thing recently for $30 from a thrift store! i jammed out a nifty 80's sounding tune right away messing with it in the store. it has 100 different instruments ("100 sound tone bank"), 95 of which sound very cheesy, and 100 different beats. it has pressure sensitivity ("touch response"). it has in and out midi ports on the back, the fat circular 5 prong plug type. i think its a good deal considering the cheapest midi-only keyboard is like $100 from m-audio, the grey one you see everywhere, but this has way more keys. i still want to figure out how to modify the sounds coming out though, maybe a filter of some sort, or guitar pedal? it has a "sustain" port on the back, have no idea what that is. on its own, the 5 instruments that i consider cool sounding are church organ echo space type sounds like "cathedral" and "fantasy 1", but also the "elec bass 1".
