Windows XP is still on the market, but the number of PCs sold with XP is very very poor.

Is it really risky to work with Vista nowadays? I use Sonar, Live and a lot of Native Instruments softwares...

A lot of problems about compatibilities?

Because I think I'm going to buy a Toshiba or a Sony VAIO, and it's really hard to install XP over pre-programmed Vista PC. :(

i suggest not to downgrade. it is expensive (because you will pay vista AND xp), annoying (you will have to search for some drivers), and you should not support vista by buying a pc with this OS installed)...
i really advice lookig for a pc with xp instead

that said, i know some (not many) satisfied vista users. talking with a couple of them could also be useful to choose the best option for you

when i first bought my vaio a year back, live didn't work, 1/2 of my software synths didn't work, i couldn't hook up my external soundcard and it's just a shitty os to work with, it did worse on the benchmarks than windows xp...

and all "new things" that microsoft added are ripper from mac..
