Celtek, never mind that sh!t man.. there is plentyyyyy of good techno and house, depending what ure into.. people always forget the old releases.. if no more new releases came out i think all djs would still be fine.. electronic has such an incredible history and tons of old records that would rock a dancefloor more so than most of the new stuff.. whenever you feel like ure starting to get weary of new music.. all you have to do is back pedal and uve got a whole new world of new music at your hands.. all this mp3ing has made djs forget about their biggest asset.. which is digging for records for yours and a whole lot of patience cuz ull need it.. but once you find that one record uve been looking for for ages none of that will matter.. mp3s stole the soul of what this is all about.. back then djs were their records.. what they had that no one else had, now its up to how many friends you have on myspace and how many people you know.. shame.. anyway, back to the topic.. diggin Jay as always, ifs no biggie if i dont like one or 2 or 5 cuz his back cataloguue makes a lot of other artists look like Goofy.. end of rant..
True!!! I play more older records then I ever have. But it's because of mp3's that I can. The same old record can cost £40 (if you can even get it) whereas mp3's have made many older tracks accessible to me!Shadi Megallaa wrote:people always forget the old releases.. if no more new releases came out i think all djs would still be fine.. electronic has such an incredible history and tons of old records that would rock a dancefloor more so than most of the new stuff.. whenever you feel like ure starting to get weary of new music.. all you have to do is back pedal and uve got a whole new world of new music at your hands.. all this mp3ing has made djs forget about their biggest asset.. which is digging for records for yours and a whole lot of patience cuz ull need it..
Like if 7th city records went digital & started re-issues of their old records it would be fucking fantastic. Maybe people are forgetting about old tracks because there's 100s of new mp3s getting released every day but, for me personally. I'm twice the DJ now that I was then I was when I just used records. But like you say a DJ's biggest asset is his records!!!
Not true, Mp3's haven't stolen any soul from anything! DJ's & producers have! Mp3s may have made music cheaper (in both senses of the word) but it's people in this for the money, drugs, girls, status or because it's cool that are loosing soul!Shadi Megallaa wrote:mp3s stole the soul of what this is all about..
As far as the release goes. The samples are too short. But I like the idea of beat-boxing on a track. Releasing said beat-boxing as an accapella though?. Suppose accapellas are the new black this season!!!

jacknine, you seem way uptight, and maybe need an enema?JackNine wrote:Have to agree here. Anyone who classifies oneself as "the most forward-thinking producer" is about as ego-driven and self-absorbed as Tom Cruise.pre-amp tango wrote:beatboxing skills? most forward-thinking producer? *lol*
Also, terrible and totally ridiculous title. How demeaning and immature can you get?
hehe, is it really that hard for you to laugh?
i must admit, even though i have not been into his hip hop sounds, jay haze is definitely without a doubt one of the most forward thinking artists in this scene. if you dont see that, its because you dont want to.
do you really think ricardo villalobos wastes his time working with idiots?
i am getting tired of people here throwing respect to people who have little to base it on, and disrespect someone who has done alot for this scene, alot for our music and added a nice spice to this thing we call minimal, not only with his music but the artists he presents!
to the comment about classifying himself? i doubt jay wrote that one sheet, and of course thats what every label does to get attention, "duh"
i can only say when you hear ass to mouth in the club you will feel differently about it.
I guess I don't find a dispicable porn act that funny?thomasjaldemark wrote:Some ppl in this world has a sense of humour and doesen't take everything 100% seriously.

And there's a huge difference between joking in a room with your friends about it, versus naming a damn album something so ridiculous.
No need to get hostile.peter glitch and crackle wrote: jacknine, you seem way uptight, and maybe need an enema?

Seriously though, naming a track after a hideous, dirty concept of pornography is childish and without taste. Women cringe at the near mention of it and I guess I just don't understand why someone who's really into the "music" would want to name a track after something that ridiculous.
It's like saying you're one of the world's best canvas and oil artists, then you release a painting called "Two in the pink and one in the stink". I mean come the fck on.
Hey shadi, i agree with you there but you know where i'm coming from. Maybe I overreacted but you know what I mean with techno producers and house music, its like they've given up on techno or the techno spirit. And fair play to them, I mean im not going to say he or she should not play like this or that but its its a personal thing for me, Ricardo n Luciano are BIG, no HUGE influences to me and what they did then was so amazing. I would look up to these guys as student to his teachers and it just hurts me to see these pioneers playing more simple house-grooves instead of pushing the boundaries in electronics, like they used to. I feel like like they have gotten bored with whatever they aimed to achieve back then, either with the genre or the scene.. and for the record, im not shitting on anyone, this is purely personal.Shadi Megallaa wrote:Celtek, never mind that sht man.. there is plentyyyyy of good techno and house, depending what ure into.. people always forget the old releases.. if no more new releases came out i think all djs would still be fine.. electronic has such an incredible history and tons of old records that would rock a dancefloor more so than most of the new stuff.. whenever you feel like ure starting to get weary of new music.. all you have to do is back pedal and uve got a whole new world of new music at your hands.. all this mp3ing has made djs forget about their biggest asset.. which is digging for records for yours and a whole lot of patience cuz ull need it.. but once you find that one record uve been looking for for ages none of that will matter.. mp3s stole the soul of what this is all about.. back then djs were their records.. what they had that no one else had, now its up to how many friends you have on myspace and how many people you know.. shame.. anyway, back to the topic.. diggin Jay as always, ifs no biggie if i dont like one or 2 or 5 cuz his back cataloguue makes a lot of other artists look like Goofy.. end of rant..
But Haze has always been like that..totally unpredictable.
yeah, I agree with this. and in terms of looking back on old releases and being satisfied or something - I was hoping that we were just getting started when all that early stuff was coming out. I think there's a LONG way to go and many respected producers definitely got off the path, which was sort of a let down. I think a lot of music from years and years ago still sounds great, but there were ideas hatched back then, especially in the early part of this scene, that could've gone a lot further.Celltek wrote: Hey shadi, i agree with you there but you know where i'm coming from.
