new release by alvaro ruiz - safety positions [filtro.007]
Àlvaro Ruiz, probably the most prolific electronic music producer from our country, known for his projects Ruisort, Balboa and his real name as an ambient producer, were he combines algorithms and atmospheres. Filtro presents “Safety Positions”, originally produced in 2001, but unknown until today, except “safety position #4 (Leda y el fucking gansito)”, which was included in the compilation “Minimas Texturas 001” from Discos Konfort, this EP sounds effective and fresh. The references are from Jan Jelinek and Tomas Jirku to Vladislav Delay, and a tribute to Murcof. Safety Positions, title based on security cards from airplanes, goes from funky click house in the first two tracks, to playful digital funk worlds and extravagant as the fourth episode, and the imaginary dialog between Murcof and Dr. Farabeuf. A remix to “safety position #1” made by Plug is included, plus a remix to “Deja te conecto” from the Mexican indie band Zoe made by Ruiz himself.

This is my favorite release at the moment, netlabel or not, electronica or not, it exiled wighnomy bros. my bloody valentine, monolake and boris from my charts
I downloaded two days ago and I have listened to it like 10 times or so, there's also a really nice surprise to listen to Alvaro's more upbeat approach to electronics, because this past demo I have is more in the experimental/noise vein. I also have listened before to the "murcof meets dr. farabeuf track" in a radio set done in germany by none other than murcof himself. so, from those years to now its a nice surprise to have this track in fully mastered glory. I'll upload it if I had space, I think the only way to share both of these is in some program with a bird as logo..jeje
