I miss the site...and it's a shame it had to go
Just curious really what any of the guys/gals of covert are doing now, as i'm aware they posted on here. I always found Covert a solid source of knowledge when record shopping as they were pretty much always on the button, and I always enjoyed reading the reviews on there.
a message for covert records (RIP).......
One of the guys has set up and ebay (or maybe discogs?) store and is selling lots of stuff from there.
The old owner, Rich, is taking classes in C++ or something similar and moving in to programming.
Another guy came into some money (unrelated) so he is just chilling right now.
And finally, the last guy who worked there is now managing a restaurant in Stratford Upon Avon.
I always told them their website sucked, but really, the whole operation was always run on a shoe string. They could barely afford a cup of tea by the end. I worked there 1998-2003 - the golden days for Covert.
It's also sad for our city because there is no real centre for the scene anymore. As a club promoter, it's more difficult to take risks with bookings now, and harder to encourage people to listen to stuff outside the beatport top 10 or whatever.
