[UK] 21-09-07| Delete First Birthday @ Dusk Till Dawn

Post by sonofradiator »

Hello everyone,

It's our birthday next month! We've got the mighty Cesar returning to Bournemouth for what will no doubt be a stonking DJ set and a new face in the shape of Lovefish. Here's everything you need to know (and more!)

Happy raving

It’s been a whirlwind twelve months for Delete, bringing the once alien sounds of minimal techno and micro-house to the South coast town of Bournemouth. From humble beginnings as a somewhat clueless crew of organisers throwing together a rag-tag bunch of residents to inviting first class international to rock the cosy basement of Dusk Till Dawn, the parties have gone from strength to strength.

It’s hard to pinpoint the highlights over the short time the party has been running, but they would have to include February’s blinding Net Label party which saw Mark Henning and the Metroline Allstars rocking a local crowd that was finally turning on to the weird and wobbly sound of Delete. Akufen’s star turn in March will certainly be remembered, least of all when we couldn’t get him off the decks. Mossa’s triumph over sketchy immigration services to deliver a stonking live set was a masterclass in the last-minute blag, and last month’s party with Le K paved the way for the development of the night as one of the leading UK outlets for forward-thinking beats to tweak the brain as much as the feet.

As well as the guests, we have also been lucky to have some of the most exciting talent in the shape of our residents Pseudo Funk, who between them have displayed their flexibility in every form of house and techno, with the only premise being that it rocks hard. Their live set (complete with live saxophone) further demonstrated their abilities, and the launch of Alt Recordings in June marked their arrival into the production world.

For our birthday, we felt it was only right to welcome back one of finest guests, and Cesar certainly earnt the privilege when he twisted our minds with a stellar DJ set that was a cut above the many minimal pretenders in the current scene. As a regular feature in one of London’s coolest underground nights, Multivitamins, he has been furthering his career in support of releases on the likes of Circus Company (undoubtedly one of Delete’s favourite record labels).

Mixing the old with the new, we are also very pleased to introduce Bournemouth to the sound of Lovefish, much-loved resident of Museum of Stuffed Animals and Fervor in London, whose wonky style will no doubt go down a storm with the army of Delete regulars. If that wasn’t enough, of course Pseudo Funk will be giving your energy a run for it’s money with their relentless skills for the most mad of sonic explorations.

Upstairs our new bessie mates from Audio Aubergine will be rinsing out yet more futuristic wrongness, taking in rotten electro, squelchy acid and mind-bending electronica from across the spectrum of modern music.

As has become the tradition with Delete, the fun doesn’t end with the club, and our most dedicated and hardcore of party people will be treated to a whole host of after-hours antics set to go on right through the weekend. You’d best flex those dancing legs because this one could be going on for rather a long time.
