What would top minimal djs get for playing at festivals and clubs?

Dunno for sure, but its said that DJs like Sasha or Paul van Dyk, get around 30000 (thats right, 30 thousands) for 2 hour sets

I think you have an extra zero in there somewhere.

PVD made 50,000 for a gig. So no there is not an extra zero. Not to mention his yearly income comes in around 2-5 million.

the influence of the amount of money you have to make things happen exist at every scale! I've seen some minimal djs (even pretty "small" ones) who would like to go to the next level but don't know how to produce, pay somebody else to make tracks for them, then release a record under their name... just because releasing a record is good to get dj bookings! and that's just an example of how to use money in this business...

In fact that's the best thing you can do to somebody starting out is to tell them when they bring you some bullshit. The ones who have the real drive for battle will go back home and keep on doing it and never give it up until they come back with something that will blow minds.

in that case, surely you have to be careful that you don't just end up making music that pleases other people, rather than making music to please yourself? OK, maybe people won't like it enough to want to release it.....but surely better to have something that's YOURS remaining unreleased, than to have a record out that's been edited at the request of various others to the point where it's not what you intended to create?
