The SSL4000 compressor slams. All those plugins tend to be on the CPU-heavy side, so they're certainly not bound to be general utility plugins, though.
i require more bass.

blingin rims at reasonable prices: netlabel reviews and other dumb sh!t

I agree they sound really good, go for it if you can afford them.

as already stated, very hard on the CPU.

the compressor definitely sounds good but its limited to only a few settings, which makes it unusable in some situations, but it is good for simpler mixing tasks. both the EQ's are fine, the dedicated one definitely having more character than the channelstrip one. all in all i think its not designed as a tool for the 'electronic music artist  ' but more as a tool for bigger recording studios where they do tracking and such, and need to EQ directly at the recording to tape stage.

I've been using the E-channel this week and I must say it's one of the most flexible and clean sounding strips (read: eq/comp/gate/expand combo) I've tried. I salvaged a bass/drum track that I thought was too poorly recorded (dynamics were a mess and there was waaay too much bass)... the results are amazingly good and usable. I was truly floored. You HAVE to read the manual though if you're not familiar with big ass console strips...

Edit: ...been working some more with it... Truly an amazing unit. Y'know when you're thinking: "How come it sound so good? It's digital! It can't be!!"
