Yes. I want one of these myself. I have yet to try one first hand but all indication shows that they are nothing but good!MarcAshken wrote:ignore him mate, the machinedrum is used by most of the big boys. I bought one a couple of months back and its transformed my life. You could buy an 808 or a 909 (i have owned both) but neither are nearly as versatile and easy to use as the machinedrum.
That's the one I was talking about!djpuff wrote:if toy want a groove-box, also there are Korg's Electribe MX, Electribe SX......................I have Electribe MX, it's really good device....it has drum-machine and synth...... check it http://www.korg.co.uk/products/dance_dj/mx1/dj_mx1.asp

I think Elektron stuff is cool, but you can get the Korg boxes to do similar tricks. They might not be real analog, but who cares? They're certainly cheaper to buy. Why shell out a bunch of cash for your first hardware purchase?
Besides, if the MachineDrum is what everyone else has, then that's who you'll sound like if you buy one!MarcAshken wrote: ignore him mate, the machinedrum is used by most of the big boys. i dont think that many people have MachineDrums mate, and even if they did, they are so versatile you be hard pushed to sound like anyone else anyway,trak660 wrote:That's the one I was talking about!djpuff wrote:if toy want a groove-box, also there are Korg's Electribe MX, Electribe SX......................I have Electribe MX, it's really good device....it has drum-machine and synth...... check it http://www.korg.co.uk/products/dance_dj/mx1/dj_mx1.asp

whereas the Korg ----must be the most common box around !!
( the tube in it is more a marketing ploy than anything, as it is with most budget gear that has tubes conspicuously on show, ( even my TLA audio 5013 ) but a few of my mates have the korgs, and they generally get the thumbs up. nawww what am i saying go Machine Drum !
i know one of the guys who helped develope the MachineDrum, by being one of the original beta testers, and this guy has had almost every piece of vintage and modern kit you can think of, and he told me that if he had to sell everything, and keep just one piece of kit, it would be the MachineDrum by a mile !
if youre going to start buying hardware, buy the best you can, because you'll still be using it in 10 years time, whereas if you buy a cheap groove box, you'll hate it within a year or two and have to sell it for peanuts.
^^^well said.
gear can be one of the best investments. buying cheaper/weaker stuff means you will be limited not only creativly but also you'll lose you investment. in 5 years those korg boxes, will be on ebay for $150
the machinedrum will never decrease in value. just as the minimoog, or 808 have never decreased in value.
i love the machinedrum. it has very disticnt sounds and tricks. i hear it alot on many differnt tracks, it's a gritty, sonic powerhouse unmatched by
any other drum machine.
two great gear combos...
machinedrum + monomachine (new school)
tr-808 + sh-101 (old school)
