i like the sounds on the 303 and 505 they are classic sounds and the 505 in my opinion is well worth the extra cash...it has a fader for each sound or drum which is nice plus a couple more routing features...we're talking a difference of 50 bucks on ebay....but if you want to go the software route then you will need a way bpm sync ableton to the turntables which for now...there is nothing reliable....you have to go with the old tap tempo...or you can do what some of the minus crew does...warp marker all your track a one bpm...bounce the out and use them within fs or serato...then when you go back and forth there isn't much guess work on the bpm and its much easier...still a lot of work...or you could get the 505 or 307 and pitch adjust it...if you aren't producing yet, i would say go the ableton route to get your feet wet...
