Nothing wrong with using loops as long as you don't just drag and drop. I always start off getting a groove going with percussion loops, chopping bits out that I like and adding effects, different groove patterns etc. I never end up importing a loop and not cutting pieces out or rearranging it. A la...

Some techniques that might be helpfull and are all present in ableton: -frequency shifter: set it up real moderate, and automate it out of sync (i like my lfo to handle that) -auto filters, low pass or high pass, depends on the drums -split the signal from one drum (left/right) and apply different ...

I don't use any samples that came with Ableton, I have a few different sample packs that I use, I like that 2020 vision deep tech one atm. Thought I would update this, I actually ended up getting the M-Audio Studiophile CX5s. I'd never heard about these monitors before but the sound was really crisp when demo'd, plus the price had been reduced from 250GBP each to 170GBP. Mids are far clearer than the Alesis M1 and the bass truer and a ...

Been reading this thread with interest as I have around 600pounds for monitors also. I'm currently using Alesis M1 Mk2 in a small room, I am looking at the BM5As but am concerned about the 50Hz rolloff, the Alesis are quoted at 38Hz. I'm making deep house and need to hear that low end. My room is to...
