Topic: Does "mnml" include house, or just techno?

I like both, I don't discriminate when it comes to music, life is too short and my taste is too wide. I lie somewhere in the middle, I like dissonance and a bit of Detroit style chords but I also like the shuffled feel of House. So minimal Tech House for me. :P Hey Dusk, I am new here too, previousl...

The player on that site plays the sounds back and a reduced bit depth, what you are hearing on the page when you audition the sounds is an artifact of this. Typically, on kicks, you get that 'thwip' as if there is a slight sound preceding the transient and an overall softer texture to the sound. I c...

I was really disappointed with what they did to it, they even thought it wise to remove the grid reference for sequencing automation. You have no idea where you are within a clip in terms of your sequencing resolution.

Korg Legacy Polysix is good at these due to the chord memory button. It makes chords sound like sampled chords, actually, it's probably better suited to tech stab chords that dub type as the sound is often sharp and clean.

not too sure what you mean by dissonant here. I would say dissonance is defined by it's opposite, consonance (and vice versa), and the 2 can loosely describe certain relative usages of pitch & timbre. Using the word to describe conceptual features in the study of music seems weird to me, but ma...

Topic: why is the machine drum better than the korg esx 1

I own a Korg EMX 1 and before that I owned a Korg ER1 mark 2, none of which are as good as a Machinedrum ( which I don't own )

Which are you thinking of buying, the ESX or the MD?

The ESX is a sampler groovebox, so to compare it with the MD is a bit wide of the mark really.
