Topic more or less says it all. Been wanting to dirty up my synths a bit, and although the distortion that comes with FM8 is pretty good it just isn't expressive enough. Ableton's built-in one sounds like garbage. Looking in particular to dirty up Pro-53 (far and away my favorite VSTi), any suggesti...

I find Reason's sequencer the easiest to actually arrange a full track in. Ableton is kind of annoying for that.

I just use ableton impulse for most drums, and vsts for melodies and some other stuff. Unless it's a specific effect you can't get any way else, Ableton's built-in effects are pretty expressive and CPU-friendly.
