Goosehound 02 is our engraved tribute to our favorite net label – Unfoundsound. You will certainly “dig” this EP for Various reasons. The release has been etched with the recognizable and much respected sounds of Butane, The Suffragettes and Someone Else’s take on Ezekiel Honig culled from the Unfoundsound archives. In addition Barem has contributed a 4th track, exclusive to this release. While each track communicates an individualized essence, together they unite to form a pleasing 12" with a refined sound.
A certain Japanese Quartet has shown true genius with intricate sound engineering, mathematically precise sampling and riveting beats. After The Suffragettes debut on Goosehound 01 with the “Gunsi EP”, we had to invite them back to deliver you another one of their handcrafted creations. “Homework 1” causes a much invited uproar with its raw edged basslines and dirty percussion; definitely a piece destined to be pressed in wax form.
Next, we must state the facts. Anything Someone Else touches turns into a masterpiece, as is the result of his rework of Ezekiel Honig’s “Under the Covers.” Harmonious dub basslines presented in a laid-back fashion have created the perfect foundation to nestle micro clicks and airy stabs. Chill out, or groove to this fresh and delicious piece of work.
It is now Barem’s turn to sequence; guiding the EP into a deep and moody realm, twisting hedonistic fragments perfect for play in dark warehouse spaces. Turn up volume and lose yourself in the lush components which consist of haunting stabs and back-lashing basslines.
Digging into Butane’s bag, or should we say “purse” of tricks, you will find a groovy number which rides flawlessly from start to finish. The delicately placed melodies are the highlight of “Drew’s Purse is so MNML,” appearing glued together leaving no visible holes of dissatisfaction. A definite must have to add this sexy accessory to your collection.
