Getting Radio through my Monitors?

Post by upekah »

Hi ,

Well it's actually pretty strange (and I am not on drugs tho..)! Five minutes ago I listened to some fresh music through my monitors.
As I turned the music off everything was normal.

But suddenly I could hear an almost silent , noisy radio news program through my monitors..!
There is no radio in my room at all and I am sure it's from the monitors.
I've some KRK Rockit's

Oh man I am completely confused now.

Should make sure everything is grounded just as a precaution

Your speakers are haunted  Something terrible must have taken place there!

Just kiddin. You must have some high quality gear. I have a pair of technique headphones and the wires inside are gold which is an extremely good conductor. If the wires are laying on the ground or touching something that lets it pick up an electrical charge then I can sometimes hear the radio. A couple times I think I acually picked up someone's telephone conversation. Maybe you should make sure everything is grounded just as a precaution.

If you get some big static building up it might cause some damage to your gear.

Some monitors are known for that.

I usually run my XLRs away from power sources and power cables. Also shorter cables help.

Another thing is that certain monitors are known to pick them up more than other.

Just use XLR's instead of 1/4 inch cables.

Shielded speaker cables are supposed to take of that.
