also, if certain people are at (that) point in their life that they want to copy and pawn off things as their own... that is where they are at (at that moment) of their life... if you choose to share where you got the info, the artist name, and encourage others to seek out new music than you apart of helping the evolution of our community. you're either one or the other...
its funny to see people worried about how others (might) act... "but but ..he's gonna act like he found them.".. hahaha..
and if that is what they want to do - then let them... why be so concerned..[?]
perhaps THAT was YOU a short time ago...& THAT...
is exactly why you hate that perspective..

it's much much bigger than that or the individual. it about sharing the name of the artist to those that might be curious...
on a somewhat related note, i know so many djs still in my town who will post a mix online and refuse to post a t/l, putting the spotlight solely on themselves and not the tracks. of course when i d/l it, turns out to be a bunch of dead-mouse or some "super rare" remix of a Sasha tune the dj did himself. i have a bad habit of d/l mixes for laughs

Beethovan acknowledged the visionary qualities of his music, saying those who understand it are freed from the miseries which others drag around with them....

You can't "force" artistic greatness and integrity into people. The very nature of the concept is such that if you try to "control" it too much, you end up destroying the good along with the "bad". There are many examples of this throughout history.
Art and creativity needs no hand-holding, narrow judgment, or "protection" from change; change is its lifeblood. There will always be a mass of followers and a sea of copy-cat wackness, but great creativity will always persevere and flow forth from the few people with the skill, vision, and guts under any and all circumstances of technology, culture, economy, etc... as long as you just step back and let the process be; it will take care of itself just fine.
Word
Besides when it's all stacked up against you in terms of fighting a sea of fake ass charlatans - don't it just make the victory sweeter
I know a few guys that are at the top of their game in the detroit and electro fields, they work dayjobs, they don't bitch about upstarts getting all the gigs and fame, but they are square with their maker , their family and their art, if they were to get uptight about this sort of thing they'd be at the doctors every week with high blood pressure.
As long as you are square with your own sh1t and happy in the knowledge that what you yourself are doing is the right thing for you, then what should it matter.
