makeup is used since 2500 br. peoples used corsets to get a thin waist about 400 years ago...so please don`t whine about "our bad times".

Lets not politicize this topic.. Vanity is something that we all suffer from and its part of human nature. Countries like the US may place more emphasis than other but that doesnt mean that are the cause of it.

I think there's a different quality now through media communication. Media expose us to an omnipresent image of beauty, idealized beyond physical possibility through photo manipulation etc.

Compared to those flat and flawless media beauties our real physical appearence looks a lot different, and when media tries to convince us that those media beauties are the real beauties and not how we really look, the result is that we're gonna feel very ugly in our bodies...

what i don't get is....if all these young girls are always watching tv and reading all these beauty mags...how is it that Americans are still fat as fck?

it's all about how media manipulates ppl...i really don't think it's about americans but about all of us.
