I've recently been becoming frustrated with a lack of expressiveness in programming my music. At the moment I'm just using a midi keyboard with a few assignable knobs. Are there any really creative, hands on midi controllers out there? I'm aware of MPC-style trigger pads, which may be the way to go,...

Some pretty interesting stuff for making minimal music, and a quite interesting approach to sound and space. I've yet to get into granular synthesis, but I have Camel Alchemy, so I might start exploring it with that.

Ok, so I made a (pretty lame) test... The first percussion part is in 9/8, the second is in 5/4 and then they're joined by a standard 4/4 drum part. The parts all "slip" in relation to each other, which I think must be it... http://tommaisey.googlepages.com/poly-test.mp3 I'm pretty excited...

That's actually quite a lot of fun to mess around with, and the mac port looks really nice too. Sweet, I might try to make a really bleepy bloop track with some of these effects...
