laptop spec's vs price

Post by mech84 »

i'm looking at buying a laptop to use ableton and run live sets.
I don't care if the graphic card is rubbish as long as it has the best sound card and can run ableton at its fastest speed. price range 700-1000 pounds.
any suggestions?

Really? Replacing memory or a hard drive in a laptop's just about the same process for a pc as it is for a mac. What else would you be upgrading in a laptop?

you should care about the graphics card...audio programs also tax your graphics card....but most laptops come with decent enough graphics cards. Look at the new MAC BOOKS...not the pros if you are looking to save cash....These little guys are killer....

I was looking to get a Dell Inspiron E1705, Duo Core 2x1.83ghz + 1gb ram...
i'll be investing in a better gfx card for design work, but wondering if this system could handle live audio (ableton+mostly waves + NI vst's) or if that's just not even an option.

my budget pretty much caps to allow these specs.

thoughts on the core duo?
