BULGUR BROTHERS - JAFFA EP - KARAT 24

Image

We are happy to entertain some new people on karat those are not really unknown it's the swedish connection made up by Mikael Stavostrand, Johan Skugge, Andreas Tilliander

Mikael Stavostrand is a key figure of the swedish experimental music scene, we first heard him on mitek records, his own imprint, with some beautiful abstract pieces. Nowadays his works are moving to a more beat influence approach, where he's combining the ingrediances of deconstructed sounds as in earlier works, but mixes them up with more rythmic and harmonic sounds to create minimal "dance" textures.

Johan Skugge is cruising in the same landscapes that Stavostrand, he released an album on Source a few years ago and lately has released several beautiful things on Onitor, really talented guy.

Andreas Tilliander is now more in a techno pop approach (world industry lp on resopal), he also released an experimental album on mille plateaux a few years ago. He has a wide open range of creation in his hands.

Those three talented guys now launch a band Bulgur Brothers. Please taste their funny-trippy groove on this first release. Those tracks fit well in any kind of set , from groovy house to more abstract techno stuff. We are waiting for more stuff to come!

Few chronicles

BOOMKAT

The Karat label from Paris have convened this new twelve from the Bulgur Brothers: something of a scandocentric supergroup comprising Mikael Stavostrand, Johann Skugge and Andreas Tilliander. Together these guys can boast many years of production experience tucked securely under their belts, making all kinds of brilliant music across the dancefloor and electronic spectrums. This particular Karat 12" stands proud on the deep and funky techno tip, with good depth and a wide variety of sounds to keep the dancers interested. The primary reference point must be the excellent Mr Oizo, with blorty bass and propulsive grooving just the ticket for any flagging ravers. Party on, sweden!

WARPMARK
Swedish super group The Bulgur Brothers are none other than Mikael Stavostrand (Vita), Andreas Tilliander (Mokira) and Johan Skugge. Between them they've got a good pedigree with tons of releases spread over many different labels - Mitek, Force Inc., Staalplaat, Onitor, Contexterrior and Mille Plateaux to name just a few! This release sees their combined powers focused on creating sharp, minimal grooves that are contrasted against rich textures and an interesting selection of processed foundsounds for the Paris-based Karat label.
