I had the ATH-m50's and hated them, found them tight to wear, they had way too much low end and not enough mid clarity and were giving me headaches. It's important to try a pair on if you can, that's something I didn't do and I regretted it. Also, think about if you want a coiled cable or not. I didn't give that much thought either and the cable was coiled and again, I hated it. I hated it because I'd only have to stretch to reach something or move to a keyboard and the thing would pull and yank on my head. The tension in the coil was quite strong to I would feel the stretching once I was in that range. Not good.
I have a cheaper pair now which are modelled on a more expensive pair and I'm well happy with them.
Not been a big user of headphones before but I moved to an apartment from a house and noise was an issue so only really been using them for the last 4 years or so. Gone are my days of blasting out 8 inch woofers
